BRRCM established in 2008

In January 2008, BRRCM opened its small office at Bagan Dalam, Butterworth in Penang and thereby worked with five NOGs till this year.

BRRC’s planned activities are based on welfare and integrity within registered and unregistered Burmese ethnic Rohingya community and other background vulnerable ethnic Burmese groups in Malaysia. BRRCM placed its aims and objects as follow:


The aims and objects of the congress shall be: -

• To safeguard and defend the fundamental rights and freedoms of Rohinhyas.

• To respect the Constitution of Malaysia

• To safeguard and promote economic, educational, cultural, and social development

• To represent all BRRCM wings
• To create and maintain harmony and integrity

• To consider, assist and deal with all matters to refer to proper channel for fair and just solution

• To co-operate or work with other national and international relevant organizations.

· To issue identity cards to potential stateless Rohingya and background most vulnerable ethnic Burmese asylum seekers until and unless they obtained the protection cards from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees or the government.

BRRCM has made some amendment as:

The name:

From the “Burmese Rohingya Refugees Community Malaysia” the word ‘Refugee’ was replaced with the word ‘Society’ and the word ‘Community’ were excluded. The amended name is now as “Burmese Rohingya Society in Malaysia”
